For Young People

We provide regular activities at the theatre for young people of all ages.

Junior Youth Theatre (ages 4-6 and 7-9)

Our Junior Youth Theatre sessions provide the perfect opportunity for children to be creative, have fun and make new friends!

Younger members meet on Saturday mornings (10.00am – 11.00am for ages 4-6, and 11.15am – 12.15pm for ages 7-9) to play drama games and improvise scenes, explore characters and create stories.

Senior Youth Theatre (ages 10-12 and 13-15)

Want to create, watch and explore theatre? New Vic Youth Theatre could be for you!

At the New Vic our artistic, craft and creative teams are making theatre every day. Our Youth Theatre offers young people the opportunity to work with professionals to develop performance skills, build confidence and work creatively with other young people.

As well as bringing scripts to life and performing pieces of original, devised theatre, you can learn about the roles behind the scenes and have expert support.

Those aged 10-and-over meet mid-week on Wednesdays (4.30pm – 6pm for ages 10-12) and Thursdays (4.30pm-6pm for ages 13-15).

New Vic Young Company (ages 16-19)

Having performed across the country at regional and national events, festivals and venues including the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as on the New Vic stage, New Vic Young Company works with practicing theatre professionals to devise original performance work and stage contemporary and classic texts.

Our New Vic Young Company has produced theatre-in-education work for local schools and has devised original performance work for major charities and organisations.

New Vic Young Company meet on Thursdays from 6.15-8.15pm.

Home Educated Drama Groups

Designed to help young people develop current learning and new skills, the New Vic’s weekly sessions for Home Educated young people provide opportunities for children aged from 5-13 the chance to get involved in drama games, storytelling sessions and creative activity, while at the same time meeting new friends in our safe theatre environment.

Holiday Projects and Activities

When schools break up, New Vic Education has plenty to keep young people occupied and involved. From creating a play in a week, to storytelling activities for younger children, and musical theatre projects.
