An exhibition celebrating the northern folk tradition of the Rushcart ceremony where banners are made to decorate the rushcarts and paraded through the town.

Local artist Phil Gibson’s detailed paintings and drawings in various media depicting wildlife and rugged landscapes that challenge the viewer to look more closely at their relationship with the habitat.

Marcel Proust’s belief that ‘the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes’ is expressed in this exhibition, where the artexplores the essence of local scenes alongside works inspired by his travels
On the Stretch
Mon 7 – Sat 26 April
Imagination on the stretch, situations out of control, confused couples, lovesick horses, with big far-off teeth. Also blue naked poets, windbags, humbugs and exhibitionists. New wrinkles on old chestnuts.
