This week, members of the New Vic Youth Theatre groups came together to celebrate the skills that they have explored and developed throughout the year. Inspired by the theme of fairytales, each group created their own original short play and performed it on the New Vic stage to an audience of family and friends.
Showcasing the tremendous dedication and hard work involved in their weekly sessions at the theatre, the groups’ performances were well received by audience members and attracted many positive comments.
One audience member said: “All three pieces were really well done. The stories, the acting, the skills and the discipline were all AMAZING!”
Another: “It was very busy in the foyer last night after the Youth Theatre performances, but we wanted to let you all know how much we all enjoyed it. Each group showed real commitment and involvement and the three pieces worked so well together.”
Youth Theatre sessions are held weekly at the New Vic during term time and are designed for aspiring young actors or simply those who want to explore theatre and build their confidence. Members of the Youth Theatre develop drama skills by bringing scripts to life and working creatively with other young people supported by theatre professionals.
Booking will be open soon for the next term of Youth Theatre which begins on Monday 16 September.
In the meantime we would like to say a big congratulations to everyone involved in the showcase this week – we look forward to seeing what these talented young people end up doing next!
