History and the History Wars
History and historians are under attack from politicians and the tabloids. But can history unite rather than divide us.
Join us for a captivating evening with David Olusoga OBE, the renowned historian, BAFTA-winning filmmaker and presenter of BBC2’s A House Through Time, for a special event celebrating Black History Month.
In this talk, David will examine why black history matters plus the causes of the ‘history wars’ and asks where they might lead us.
Through his TV work and writing, he has sought to make history inclusive, expansive and diverse by shedding a light on how history is viewed through the media. He is determined to increase the appeal of history as a subject to young people from similar backgrounds to his own. Using individuals’ voices and experiences to tell stories, he will take us on a fascinating journey examining what history reveals about contemporary society.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from a leading voice in modern history and storytelling with an evening designed to leave you not only intrigued by history but also moved by the stories that connect us all.
The evening also includes a delicious pre-show meal provided by Brickhouse; get your tickets now for an evening of fascinating conversation, great food, and cultural celebration.
