John Godber’s epic new play traces the lives of ex-miner Harry and his wife Dot in the thirty years after the 1984 miners’ strike. It is performed by the multi award-winning partnership – John Godber himself and Jane Thornton. Their previous work includes April In Paris, September in the Rain, and comedy classic Up N Under!
The strike is over and the pits are shut. Suddenly, Harry and Dot are thrown together with new battles to fight, and new jobs to hold down – from window cleaning in Wakefield to running a boarding house in Bridlington. Life will never be the same again.
Fuelled with eye-watering honesty and true Yorkshire grit, an hilarious account of those whose jobs were taken and communities destroyed. And how they fought back after being shafted!
