Vicki Amedume
Aerial Director
Vicki is the Artistic Director and founder of Upswing, a UK based circus company that stimulates new thinking in circus and challenges cultural assumptions by literally turning the world upside down.
Since 1997, Vicki has performed and created aerial and circus based work that has been performed in the UK and worldwide. She has worked across all spheres of circus from traditional touring tented circuses to large-scale outdoor spaces and intimate touring indoor theatre.
Producing, consultancy and collaborations credits include: Circus Bites, Barnum (Circus Consultant, Chichester Festival Theatre and Cameron Mackintosh), The Light Princess (aerial consultancy and training, National Theatre), The Moment When (2012 Cultural Olympiad in Chester), Little Eagles (RSC), Peter Pan and Wicked Lady (New Vic Theatre), Peter Pan (National Theatre of Scotland).
She is a Visiting Lecturer in Circus at Bucks University, Guest Lecturer and Guest Trainer at The National Centre for Circus Arts and Visiting Trainer at The Hangar Arts Trust.
She trained at Live and Direct, Birkbeck College, Circus Sarasota, Centre National des Arts du Cirque (CNAC, France), Leeds University and Circus Space.
