One of two ‘Eric’ productions to be brought back by popular demand this year in celebration of David Graham Productions’ much-loved character’s 25th anniversary, Strictly Eric returns to the New Vic stage from Monday 22 July to Saturday 3 August.
The Eric shows have become an institution at the New Vic over the past 25 years, and 2024 presents an opportunity for audiences to find out what happens when Eric takes on the best ballroom dancers ‘Strictly’ has to offer.
First staged in 2017, it is one of two of the most popular Eric shows – along with Eric’s Full Monty – to return to the New Vic this year following an audience vote.
Eric and hapless sidekick Gordon have somehow ended up organising the 1969 World Ballroom Championships at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom. The two favourites are couples from Germany and England, and the English couple are determined to win, but more familiar with the twist than the tango, could employing Eric and Gordon be Strictly’s biggest ever mistake?
Strictly Eric will be an evening of comedy antics and toe-tapping music – with perhaps the odd salsa thrown in! – hot on the heels of the group’s enormously popular celebratory concert this spring.
Strictly Eric takes to the stage at the New Vic from Monday 22 July to Saturday 3 August 2024. Tickets are on sale now, priced from £24.00. For more information and to book call the Box Office on 01782 717962 or visit newvictheatre.org.uk.
