The New Vic are hosting a special evening featuring a fascinating talk from renowned historian and BAFTA-winning filmmaker David Olusoga OBE, to mark Black History Month this October.
David Olusoga OBE, presenter of BBC2’s A House Through Time, will host the captivating evening on Monday 28 October, examining why black history matters and the causes of the ‘history wars’ as well as where they might lead us.
Through his TV work and writing, he has sought to make history inclusive, expansive and diverse by shedding a light on how history is viewed through the media. He is determined to increase the appeal of history as a subject to young people from similar backgrounds to his own.
This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from a leading voice in modern history and storytelling, in an evening that will take you on an intriguing journey examining what history reveals about contemporary society, and leave you moved by the stories that connect us all.
Before the show, audience members can tuck into delicious homemade Caribbean and South American-inspired cuisine provided by Tunstall’s Brickhouse, served from 5.30pm in the New Vic restaurant.
David Olusoga’s talk will be followed by a Q&A session and book signing.
