MY THOUSAND YEAR OLD LAND RE-STAGED TO RECOGNISE THE UNITED NATIONS’ INTERNATIONAL DAY OF REFLECTION AND COMMEMORATION

28th June 2024

This July, New Vic Borderlines’ powerful documentary play My Thousand Year Old Land (a song for BiH) will be re-staged to coincide with the United Nations’ recent resolution which designates 11 July as the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica.

A story of the search for truth, justice and hope through three generations of women, this symbolic play is based on survivor testimonies from the genocide and war crimes that occurred in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s and recognises the impact of war on everyday people.

Praised for its poignant and honest portrayal of events, My Thousand Year Old Land (a song for BiH) was first brought to the stage in 2022 and has since been performed across the country. Sharing an overriding message of hope in times of adversity, the play features traditional folk songs and poetry in its portrayal of the importance of cultural identity and an everlasting connection to the land.

Tickets for My Thousand Year Old Land (a song for BiH) at the New Vic on Thursday 11 July at 2pm and 7.30pm are on sale now, priced at £15.00. For more information and to book call the Box Office on 01782 717962 or book them online here.
