Talented young people from across North Staffordshire have been put through their paces at the New Vic’s Summer School.
Almost 30 11 to 14-year-olds, explored the story of The Snow Queen under the watchful eye of the show’s Assistant Director, Bryn Holding, in August.
A number will now be offered the chance to appear alongside professional actors in the production which runs at the theatre-in-the-round from Saturday 19 November to Saturday 28 January.
Bryn said: “The group we worked with on this year’s Summer School has been amazing. Their level of concentration has astounded us. We worked them all really hard, Summer School is about having fun while also having a taste of what it’s like rehearsing for a professional show.”
Led by the New Vic’s Education team, the jam-packed Summer School saw the young performers bring characters and scenes to life using drama, dance and music.
Jill Rezzano, Head of New Vic Education, said: “We challenged the group and they have risen to everything we have tasked them with. The Snow Queen is a beautiful story and they have all done it justice.”
Adapted and directed by New Vic Artistic Director, Theresa Heskins, The Snow Queen is set to be filled with enchanting characters, original music and filled breath-taking on-stage magic and will be brought to the stage by the same creative team behind the New Vic’s spectacular Robin Hood & Marian, The Borrowers and The Hundred and One Dalmatians.
