The New Vic is on the hunt for new members of its community theatre company to perform in a heart-warming production exploring the life and legacy of home-grown circus hero, Philip Astley.
New Vic production Roll Up, Roll Up will be presented as part of The Philip Astley Project’s Astley Fest on Saturday 4 August at Lyme Valley Parkway and will celebrate the 250th anniversary of modern circus.
To be considered for the production, participants will need to attend a workshop on Saturday 12 May during which they will work with the professional artists who will be making the show, including Director Ruth Carney, Choir Leader Mary Keith and Circus lead, Andrew Van Buren.
Participants must be aged 16+.
This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in the celebrations of circus, in the hometown of the man who invented the phenomenon. For more information and to register your interest in attending the workshop, please contact Lynn Parry on 01782 381366 or lparry@newvictheatre.org.uk.
Part of the New’s Circus Past, Present and Future programme, Roll Up, Roll Up forms part of The Philip Astley Project’s Astley Fest funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.
