The Big Give

This year, the New Vic are taking part in The Big Give to raise money for our Next Chapter project.

The Big Give is the UK’s leading match funding charity, helping to double the difference that donations can make for organisations. As part of the initiative, donations given online through The Big Give’s website at www.bit.ly/NewVicDonate between 19 and 26 March 2024 will be DOUBLED!

This means that every £1 you commit to supporting the New Vic during that week will have twice the impact!

We’re aiming to raise £20,000 in donations during The Big Give – if we succeed, the donations will be doubled thanks to support from Arts Council England, through StokeCreates.

How can you help?

  • Set a reminder in your calendar for 19 – 26 March – only donations given online during this week are eligible for match-funding to double your donation
  • During that week, visit www.bit.ly/NewVicDonate and make a donation online. We appreciate any amount of support you can give – see below for more details of our Next Chapter project and how your donation will help

What is the New Vic’s Next Chapter project?

In our local area around 17% of people in our communities are living with a mental illness. This can often lead to high levels of economic inactivity and high mortality rates from premature death due to addiction and suicide.

Our Next Chapter project is an innovative community initiative that supports people who are dealing with adult mental health issues, including the challenges of addiction and homelessness. Participants will engage in arts-based activities designed to raise their confidence and aspirations, and use the power of theatre to find their voice – both to portray their experiences in a safe environment and to tackle mental health challenges head on.

What will we do with your support:

 Any donation will enable us to support our Next Chapter project

  • £25 could provide costume support for participants
  • £50 could go towards developing a set of participants to create their own production
  • £150 could cover costs for a day’s dedicated work by an arts practitioner, with professional mental health and counselling training
