Student Georgina tells us about her work experience with New Vic Borderlines…
My experience over the course of this week has been very enjoyable and a great insight into theatre work. With only ever really performing in dance shows, it was interesting to see how things ran behind the stage with Borderlines, for example organising and running drama workshops with people from different backgrounds in the community. You could tell that those taking part in these workshops, myself included, found them to be fun and the people were very welcoming and relaxed with each other; sharing different ideas.
Another thing I found fantastic to see was when the ‘Hungry for change’ group started to create their own songs relating to the food poverty issue. It was interesting to see the piece developing even at this early stage in rehearsals. I would definitely enjoy seeing the finished performance, to see how far it’s come since now.
